Creation or Evolution - A Clue (with apologies to Dr. Seuss)

This is a clue,

from Who's and What's.

The First of All must be a Who or a What.

You are a Who,

And we know that Who's make Whats,

And we know that Whats cannot make Who's, 

So how can you say that the First of All

must be a What that cannot make Who's?

You are a Who not a What!

Surely the First of all must be a Who,

who made all lesser Who's and What's,

and you a Who.

This is not a proof that the Triune God has created all things. In fact, it is not even remotely good poetry! However, it is a clue that the naturalistic account of how the universe came to be is not plausible and cannot be true on its own terms. As well, everyone knows that the only real alternative to a naturalistic account of the universe, and of you and me, is found in the Christian scriptures and faith.

As more is learned about the fine-tuning of the universe and the awe-inducing complexity of a single cell, the simple truth of John 1 should sound wiser and wiser to Christian and sceptic alike.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men." John 1:1-4, ESV.
